My Uncle

I don't know, I don't want to say
that killing six million people was acceptable
but my uncle only killed 355 of them
and they were Italians anyway.
Plus he's fucking ninety and hardly likely to do it again.
It's perfectly well and quite understandable
for people to say that war crimes
must not be forgiven

But I think when you're ninety
all bets are off,
your priorities changed from political gain
to comfortably finishing up
with minimal shame.
I suppose in my heart I can also see
that a ninety year old jailbird is a joke anyway.
My uncle is a prisoner in his own flesh.
